W Bro Ed Bottomley PGStB, Secretary

The Metropolitan Clay and Rifle Shooting Lodge No 5409 (Met C&RSL) held its annual Christmas Shoot at Sporting Targets, Bedford. All present agreed it was a resounding success. The Christmas Shoot is one of the most highly anticipated events on the Met C&RSL calendar, and this year's event did not disappoint. Sporting Targets has been in existence since 1990. Set in over 40 acres of countryside. It is one of the largest and best clay shooting clubs in the country.

W Bro David Brown welcomed all to the shoot, gave a quick briefing for the day and with Bro Arian Shahbazian, both seasoned shooters and organisers, took charge of organising the shoot, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and efficiently.

The event started early, with participants arriving at the shooting range to prepare for the day ahead. The range was abuzz with excitement and anticipation as shooters warmed up and practised their aim. As the shoot got underway, it became apparent that the competition would be fierce.

The shoot featured a variety of different shooting challenges, including trap shooting, skeet shooting, and sporting clays. Each challenge required a different set of skills and techniques, testing the participants' ability to adapt and adjust to changing conditions. The weather was clear and sunny, providing perfect shooting conditions for all.

Bros Sam King and Kevin Walsh quickly established themselves as the top shooters of the day, hitting target after target with impressive accuracy.

The event showcased the best of the sport, with participants displaying exceptional accuracy, speed, and precision. As the day ended, it was clear Bro Sam King had emerged as the top shooter.

The Met C&RSL is creating a quarterly shooting event, bringing together participants from all walks of life to showcase their skills and compete against each other in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

With meetings held at 10 Duke Street St. James, the Lodge is now in its eighth year of existence and is growing with well over 30 members from across the UK. The festive board is fine dining; and held at the Hippodrome on the corner of Cranbourn Street and Charing Cross Road in the City of Westminster – renowned as one of the best steak restaurants in London.
