In the last issue of Arena, we were delighted to tell you how Mandate Lodge No 4258 had convened an Emergency Meeting to celebrate the 100th birthday of W Bro Mervyn Kersh MBE.

Since then, W Bro Mervyn has continued to lead a particularly busy life.

In April, he attended a memorial in Westminster commemorating the Liberation of Bergen Belsen. Mervyn is a decorated veteran of the Normandy Landings and himself participated in the Liberation of this terrible camp.

W Bro Mervyn has spoken about his experiences and he therefore also that month  received a letter from the Prime Minister, in which was written, “As we mark the 80th anniversary of the British liberation of Bergen Belsen, I want to thank you for recording your testimonies and adding your voices to those of hundreds of British holocaust survivors and camp liberators who have put the truth on record for eternity”.

He continues to be exceptionally active – both in life and the Craft.
